The Hotel
La Maison des Consuls or “The Councillors House” is an impressive, historic building which was originally constructed at the end of the 13th Century, it is situated in the central square in the medieval City of Mirepoix. It is renowned for its decorated façade of many curious, carved wooden creatures and faces which are found under the covered timber arcades. La Maison des Consuls was rebuilt under the orders of Louis XII in the year 1500,after having been submitted to the ravages of the 100 Year War. After its reconstruction it was used as ‘’The Councillors House”.
La Maison des Consuls was then burnt down during the reign of Louis XIV in 1664 and the whole structure had to be rebuilt again.
Certain rooms are decorated with antique furniture to help to enhance the character and feeling of this historic building. Each room has its own style – from the XVth Century to the Contemporary period, they are all equipped with beautiful bathrooms and some of them directly overlook the medieval square.
Breakfast is served in our attractive traditional ‘country style’ reception room on the ground floor or in our elegant covered courtyard or of course, on the terrace in the famous square of Mirepoix.
You will be enchanted by this extraordinary, peaceful little town ‘petit bourg’ – full of charm and history – just perfect for relaxation and for contemplation. Appreciate soaking up the sun whilst enjoying a glass of local wine in the central square.
…and if you are lucky enough to be here on Monday you will experience the pleasant hustle and bustle of a typical Mirepoix market day.
